H.E Mohamad Zaki, High Commissioner of Maldives in Malaysia meets with Chief Minister of Sarawak, Hon. Pehin Sri Hj Abdul Taib Mahmud and other senior officials during his official visit to Sarawak.

The meeting with Chief Minister of Sarawak, Hon. Pehin Sri Hj Abdul Taib Mahmud focussed on strengthening cooperation and the brotherly relations that exist between the two countries especially in commercial sector.  H.E. Mohamad Zaki and Hon. Pehin Sri Hj Abdul Taib Mahmud agreed to find ways to boost export of Malaysian timber and other products from Sarawak to Maldives. Last year Maldives imported Sawn Timber and Plywood worth RM. 15 million from Sarawak. 

H.E Mohamad Zaki also met with Hon. Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr. George Chan Hon Nam, Deputy Chief Minister & Minister of Industrial Development and Minister of Tourism & Heritage. During the meeting Hon. Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr. George Chan Hon Nam expressed willingness and interest to visit Maldives this year and seek business opportunities available in Maldives for further cooperation.

H.E Zaki also met with Datu Hai Ismawi Bin Hj. Ismuni, Director of Sarawak Development and Tourism Planning Unit and the President and Committee members of the Sarawak Timber Industry and Development Corporation.

H.E Mr. Mohamad Zaki, is scheduled to return back to Kuala Lumpur on 11 March 2010.
