The High Commission of the Republic of Maldives to
Malaysia was established on 25th May 2006.
His Excellency Midhath Hilmy is the first High Commissioner to be appointed to
Malaysia. He presented his credentials to His Majesty the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Xii,
Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Ibni Al-Marhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail on September 7 2006.
As the Maldives diplomatic mission accredited to Malaysia, the primary focus of
the activities of the High Commission is geared towards achieving the following
objectives:
- To maintain and promote good relations between the
Maldives and Malaysia
- To enhance trade and commerce between the two countries
- To serve and protect the interests of Maldivian citizens in Malaysia
- To promote educational, scientific and cultural exchanges between the two countries
- To increase the profile of the Maldives in Malaysia
